Leitrim hotelier hits out at lack of response by local politicians on VAT rate

A Leitrim hotelier says local politicians didn’t do enough to prevent the government from increasing the VAT rate for the tourism sector.

Matthew McDonagh, the General Manager of the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.

He claims he contacted 13 local politicians to outline the importance of retaining the 9% rate before the budget but he got a very poor response.
