Two men are due in court this afternoon as a result of a garda investigation into recent thefts in the Ballyshannon/Bundoran area.

They were arrested in the north Leitrim area last night.

The men — one in his mid-20s, the other in his mid-30s — were arrested with the help of members of the Garda Regional Support Unit.

It followed a garda investigation into the theft of a number of car trailers in the last week in the Ballyshannon/Bundoran area.

One man has been charged with handing stolen property.

The other has been charged with a number of road traffic offences as a result of an incident during an encounter with gardai near Laghey, Co Donegal.

The men are due to appear before a special sitting of Carrick on Shannon court this afternoon.
