Bombing commemorations take place in Omagh and Buncrana



President Michael D. Higgins is paying tribute to the courageous work of the first responders to the Omagh bombing 20 years ago.

29 people were killed in the blast on this day in 1998, including a woman pregnant with twins.

President Michael D Higgins is expressing his solidarity with the people of the town as commemorations take place in Omagh and in Buncrana in county Donegal.

Michael Gallagher is a spokesperson for the victims’ group and lost his son Aidan in the bombing.
