Another first for a North West TD after Fossil Fuel bill passed in the Dail



It’s another first for a North West TD after Deputy Thomas Pringle’s Fossil Fuel Divestment Bill passed in the Dail today made Ireland the first country in the world to pass such legislation.

The bill will ensure that the government does not use taxpayers money to invest in fossil fuel companies such as oil and gas companies.

Deputy Pringle told Ocean FM News and the Dail this week that it’s about time we started taking the issue of Climate Change more seriously.

It makes him the second TD in this region in a year to pass a bill which is the first of its kind around the world after Tony McLoughlin’s anti-fracking bill was passed last year.

Deputy Pringle was commended by the Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl after the bill received unanimous support:
