Councils treating roads where tar is melting

People are urged to drive with care on the roads this evening especially secondary and Class 3 roads where tar may be melting.

Sligo County Council says it is continuing to treat roads where there are reports of tar melting.

This evening, there are reports that the hill on the Calry road is very bad.

Yesterday the Council said it recorded temperatures of over 40 degrees on the roads at Ballisodare, a temperature never recorded before.

Meanwhile, there are similar reports in counties Donegal and Leitrim and people are urged to take care when driving in this heat.

The Council in Sligo told Ocean FM News this evening that they treat these roads as best they can.
