Drumcliffe/Rosses Point GAA Club Notes
Sunday, June 24th. 2018

Hard luck to Neil Ewing and the Sligo senior footballers who made their exit from the All-Ireland football qualifiers against Armagh at the weekend.

There was disappointment too for Michelle McNamara, Sinead Regan and the Sligo ladies footballers as they were beaten by Roscommon in the Connacht Intermediate final at Castlebar last Sunday.

Our senior men’s footballers were beaten by neighbours St Molaise Gaels in the Kiernan Cup last Sunday on a final scoreline of 3-14 to 3-10. The attention now turns back to the league this weekend as we host Curry at Oxfield on Sunday afternoon at 5pm. A win here will ensure our Division 1 status for next season.

The postponed Under 14 hurling league final between Benbulben Gaels and Tourlestrane has been re-fixed for this Monday June 25th in Markievicz Park at 7pm.

The junior men’s footballers travel to Easkey on Monday evening for a Division 4 league match at 8pm. Our boys U16 footballers are away to Curry in the league the same evening.

The club’s monthly meeting for June takes place this Monday night (Jne 25th) in Oxfield at 9pm.

Our thanks to the Under 8 and Under 10 footballers of St Molaise Gaels and Calry/St Joseph’s who joined us last Friday evening in Oxfield for the Sligo LGFA girls blitz, played in glorious sunshine.

The Under 6 nursery footballers took part in a very enjoyable blitz with St Mary’s GAA club last Saturday. Our thanks to St Mary’s for hosting the event.

Our U8 and U10 nursery footballers play a midweek blitz this Wednesday 27th when we welcome Owenmore Gaels to Oxfield at 7pm.

The club held a goalkeeping coaching clinic at Oxfield last Monday evening. Thank you to Pat Kilcoyne for coming along to give the session.

There’s still time to register for the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp which takes place at Oxfield from July 16-20th. The camp is open to boys and girls aged 6-13 years. You can register your child online. For more info, see the club’s website drp.gaa.ie. Alternatively, contact our local Cúl Camp co-ordinator Mary Power on 0876288718.

Well done to all the competitors from Rosses Point and Drumcliffe areas who took part in the Sligo Community Games track and field finals at IT Sligo at the weekend.
