A young Sligo man confirmed this week he intends to seek a nomination to run for Fine Gael in the local elections next year.
Blaine Gaffney is from Sligo town and currently works as parliamentary assistant to Fine Gael TD in Sligo Leitrim Tony McLoughlin.
He has made the decision after recommendations from the boundary commission this week propose a new Sligo Strandhill local electoral area for the county of Sligo.
