McDonnell says Sligo need to step up a level to tackle Galway

Sligo captain Kevin McDonnell says that Sunday’s Connacht semi-final against Galway will be a massive step-up for his side.

The Yeats County retained their Division 3 status in the national league with a morale-boosting defeat of Derry, before beating London in Ruislip in the championship.

But the Castleconnor midfielder says that an in-form Galway side will present a very different challenge…

Galway corner back Eoghan Kerin says they’ll be wary of Sligo in this Sunday’s Connacht semi-final at Pearse Stadium.

The Tribesmen followed up on a successful league campaign by beating Mayo in their Connacht quarter-final.

Speaking at the launch of AIB’s extension to their sponsorship of the Football Championship by five years, Kerin said Sligo have a history of upsetting the odds in this fixture.

Sunday’s game is live on Ocean FM from 3.30pm on Sunday, with Tomás Clarke and Tommy Breheny providing coverage in association with EJMenswear.com.
