Rising insurance costs hitting community groups



Spiralling insurance costs in the community sector could result in the closure of smaller groups,  such as the Men’s Sheds.

Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle is to raise the issue with the Finance Minister Paschal Donohue this week.

The Kilmacrennan Men’s Shed in county Donegal says they are now paying nearly a thousand euro more for insurance than they were five years ago when they started.

Raymond McBride, the Assistant Secretary of the Shed says the alternative for many men who cannot avail of this service is not always good.
