Local Link at forefront for 15 years in providing transport services in Sligo, Leitrim



With Donegal having got approval for four new evening and nighttime rural transport services, it’s emerged there were no applications from Sligo or Leitrim.

Transport Minister Shane Ross says his department got 50 applications for routes, and all of them were accepted.

Those routes, operated by Local Link, will run on a trail basis for the next six months.

However, in Sligo and Leitrim, Local Link has been at the forefront for years in providing rural transport services.

And, in some cases, when it tried new services, the demand was not there for them.

Local Link Manager for Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon, Camilla Kelly, has been telling Ocean FM News how it has been developing rural transport services for the past 15 years:
