Bishop says children of many faiths welcomed in Catholic schools

A Catholic bishop in the north west says part of the Catholic ethos is one of respect and inclusivity for all.

Bishop of Elphin Diocese Kevin Doran was speaking to Ocean FM News following an agreement by the cabinet yesterday on changes that would make it illegal for Catholic primary schools to use baptism for deciding on entry where’s there a waiting list.

Bishop Doran says there’s no ‘baptism barrier’ in his diocese, adding that children of many faiths are already welcomed in its schools:

Bishop Doran says school admissions can be a major issue in areas where there are waiting lists for entry to schools but he says often the problem here is that the government is not providing the necessary resources.
