A Leitrim councillor fears there may be an increase in illegal dumping because some furniture stores are refusing to take back old mattresses.
Previous, stores had taken back mattresses from people buying a new one as a goodwill gesture.
But Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott says some recycling centres are now refusing to take the mattresses from the stores.
He is to raise the issue at today’s meeting of Leitrim County Council:
