Donegal pilot programme shows benefits of electric and hybrid vehicles

A pilot programme covering parts of Donegal, Sligo, Cavan and Monaghan has found that using electric-powered vehicles both reduces costs and is good for the environment.

The Local Link Donegal cleaner transport programme found that changing to hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles could result in a 35% reduction in fuel costs and a 22% reduction in Co2 emissions.

Fiona O Shea, from Local Link Donegal, has been telling Ocean FM News about the pilot programme, which involved the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, the Department of Transport and two major car companies.
