People encouraged to leave plastic at the till for ‘Sick of Plastic’ day

The Green party in the North West says there’s been a great response to the ‘Sick of Plastic’ day which takes place at supermarkets across the region today.

Everyday in Ireland we use more than 500,000 plastic-lined coffee cups that can’t be recycled.

We also use 2.5 million plastic bottles that don’t get recycled.

Today’s day of action is taking place at check-outs in stores across the region and nationwide and consumers are urged to leave your plastic at the till.

Leslie O’Hora of the Green Party in the North West outlines the idea behind today’s events:

The dates for these events at the supermarkets are available of the Facebook page of the Green Party for Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon]
