Despite start of fodder imports today, Minister slammed for ‘delay in acting’

A Sligo/Leitrim TD has called for the Minister for Agriculture to be sacked over his handling of the fodder crisis.

That’s despite the start of imports today of fodder from England.

Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry says he first raised the issue last October, when he warned there would be fodder shortages

But he says it wasn’t seen as an issue until it began to hit southern and eastern areas of the country.

Deputy MacSharry’s comments were echoed this morning by Kevin Comiskey, chairman of the Leitrim IFA Sheep Committee and of the Dromhair IFA branch.
