Taoiseach defends John Concannon and other staff of Strategic Communications Unit



The Taoiseach has defended staff of the Governments Strategic Communications Unit.

The SCU, which is headed by Sligoman John Concannon, is being wound down after claims it instructed newspapers to make adverts look like real news.

Fianna Fáil claimed the unit was nothing more than a “5 million euro PR stunt for brand Leo”.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is before an Oireachtas Committee today and says despite the unit being wound down – the staff are not to blame:
