Donegal relegated but Sligo survive on a day of drama

Donegal will be back playing Division Two football for the first time since 2014 next season.

A 13-points-a-piece draw with Mayo in Ballybofey on Sunday was enough to save Stephen Rochford’s side, but not Declan Bonner’s team, who join Kildare in making the drop.

Cavan and Roscommon are the teams coming in the other direction.

Sligo survived relegation thanks to an impressive 3-11 to 2-12 defeat of Derry.

Instead, the Ulster side are relegated along with Wexford.

But Fermanagh are back in Division Two alongside Armagh, after Rory Gallagher’s side won away to Longford.

Elsewhere in the league, Leitrim’s footballers beat Wicklow, but there was disappointment for the county hurlers, who lost to Lancashire in the league final.
