Donegal’s Tyler Toland and Amy Boyle Carr were part of the Irish U17 side that lost 2-1 to Iceland in their first European Championship elite round qualifier this afternoon.
A late goal from their opposition in Germany means the Irish have an uphill task now to qualifying for the Championship finals.
The side return to action on Sunday when they face Azerbaijan, before they take on their hosts in the third game.
The Irish men’s U21 team are also in action against Iceland tonight.
They clash in an international friendly in Tallaght from 7.30pm.
Derry City’s Ronan Curtis and brothers Rory and Ronan Hale are all part of the squad.
