Man due in court in Donegal in connection with Jimmy Loughlin death



Gardaí in Sligo investigating the murder of Jimmy Loughlin charged a man last night in connection with the incident.

20 year old Jimmy Loughlin was found dead at a house at Connolly Street in Sligo town on Saturday afternoon.

It’s thought he was the victim of a serious assault.

A 31 year old was arrested a short time later and is due to appear before Donegal Town district Court at 10.30am

Investigation:

Gardaí were called to a house on Connolly street at around 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Loughlin who investigating Gardaí believe was the victim of an assault was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem was carried out yesterday on the body of the victim, however, it’s understood the results of the post mortem are not being released for operational reasons.

Tributes: 

Mr. Loughlin from Kilross, Ballintogher had been working part time with McDonalds in Sligo since 2014.

Tributes have been paid to him over the weekend including from his employers in McDonalds with restaurant Manager Leo McNamara describing him as having a ‘fun personality’ and a ‘great sense of humour’.
