Six gold medals and a new Irish record for Mona McSharry in Bangor



Sligo’s Mona McSharry is Ireland’s fastest ever female swimmer.

The 17-year-old twice broke the Irish senior 50 metres freestyle record yesterday, on her way to winning six gold medals at the Swim Ireland McCullagh International meet in Bangor.

The Marlins Swim Club member also won the 50, 100 and 200 metre breaststroke titles, the 100 metres freestyle and the 50 metres butterfly events over the three days of action.
