Minister defends fodder scheme

The Minister for Agriculture has strongly defended the new fodder transport support scheme he has set up.

Speaking ahead of a meeting with farmers in Sligo and Leitrim last night, the Minister also stood firm on payments being withheld on lands burnt last summer.

Farmers state the 100km rule in the new fodder transport scheme is unworkable and some state a meal voucher would have been a better solution.
