Senator “truly shocked” at decision not to fund Letterkenny Hospitals short stay ward



The Government have refused to provide the funding to reopen Letterkenny Hospital’s 19-bed Short Stay Ward.

This is depsite the numbers of people on trolleys at the hospital hitting record levels. While in 2017, almost 5,000 people in total had to wait on a trolley.

It would cost the government 1.8 million euro to open the 19 short stay beds.

Speaking in the Seanad yesterday, Donegal Senator Padraig MacLochalin, said there’s a solution to this crisis, and he can’t understand the Governments stance….
