An eldely man who died earlier this week after being struck by a car near Charlestown, Co Mayo at the weekend was from Co Sligo.
81-year-old Louie O’Hara, a retired small farmer from Tourlestrane, died in the intensive care unit of Mayo University Hospital on Monday evening.
He had sustained serious injuries when he was struck by a car on Saturday evening while out walking.
One of Mr O’Hara’s neighbours, Sligo County Councillor Jerry Lundy, described him as a “tremendous character”, who was very popular in the local area:
