IFA says calls for fodder scheme are justified



The head of the IFA in Connaught has defended calls by the farming community for another farming scheme.

The Department of Agriculture is reluctant to set up a scheme as the crisis only affects a certain amount of farmers.

A new Teagasc survey carried out in Sligo and Leitrim reveals a significant problem in those two counties.

But further south the weather has not been such a big issue.

Chairperson of the IFA in Connaught Pauric Joyce says their calls at a meeting this week for another fodder scheme to be set up are justified:
