Concern over speeding on N17 through Ballinacarrow village

A Sligo councillor says traffic calming measures need to be implemented in Ballinacarrow village before a ‘fatality occurs’.

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey says that traffic from Sligo and Tubbercurry on the N17 fails to slow down when approaching the traffic lights by the playground, national school, creche and community centre.

Councillor Mulvey met with a number of concerned people who said they see numerous drivers speeding on a daily basis.

An engineer from Sligo County Council visited the site recently and gave some recommendations

Speaking to OceanFM, Councillor Mulvey says it’s now down to Transport Infrastructure Ireland to do something before a fatality occurs.
