Call for rural directorate to be set up in Leitrim



There are calls for a Rural Directorate to be set up in Leitrim.

The calls come from Fine Gael Councillor Frank Dolan who says he put forward the motion at this week’s meeting of the County Council after he saw it being done in County Clare.

Councillor Dolan says the recent campaign to attract more people to live in the north Leitrim village of Kiltyclogher also prompted him to take action.

He says there’s a total disconnect between the decision-makers at a national level and those in rural areas.

He says the recent REDZ programme is a clear example that those in Dublin do not even understand the geography of the North West:
