The Minister with responsibility for flood relief and the Office of Public Works will be in Leitrim today.
Among the places Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran will visit this afternoon is Kiltyclogher, where there have been calls for funding to be provided to ensure the home of 1916 signatory Sean MacDiarmada remains open to tourists and visitors.
During his recent visit to Sligo, the minister told Ocean FM News he planned to look at staffing issues facing important heritage sites like the MacDiarmada cottage.
Earlier this year, there were fears the house Corranmore would be closed to the public if funding was not renewed for a guide and manager at the heritage centre in Kiltyclogher.
Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny hopes Minister Moran’s visit today will result in the needed funding being provided.
