Spanish Ambassador presents unique award in Sligo and remembers terrorism victims



The Spanish Ambassador to Ireland has officially made a special presentation to the Grange and Armada Development Association with an honour from the King of Spain.

The special ceremony took place in City Hall in Sligo town this afternoon.

Mr. Jose Maria Rodriguez-Coso said the award is to mark all the work done in reconnecting Sligo’s links with the Spanish Armada and is the first such award given to any group in Ireland.

Speaking to Ocean FM News at the event Mr. Rodriguez-Coso explained that this is a very special honour:

A minutes silence was also held at City Hall for the victims of the terror attack in Spain recently.

Mr. Rodriguez also officially opened a Book of Condolence on behalf of the Council to the people of Spain and that book is now available for the public to sign at the Council offices in Sligo.

He told Ocean FM News that as a native of Barcelona it has been emotional time both professionally and personally in the aftermath of such an atrocity.
