Students preparing for a college course in Dublin face a serious challenge in finding rental accommodation.
In fact, the latest report from daft.ie shows the number of properties available to rent has fallen to its lowest level since records began.
Rents in Sligo and Donegal reflect the national trend of an almost 12 percent increase in the first half of this year compared to last year.
Rents are up by almost 7% in Leitrim during the same period.
But in Dublin rents are now almost 20 percent higher than their peak in the celtic tiger at an average price of €1700 a month in the capital.
