Nine day novena starts in Knock today



The National Novena to Our Lady of Knock opens in Mayo today.

The novena offers nine days of reflection and prayer and a chance for people to reconnect with their faith in the sacred space of Knock Shrine.

Catholic Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran will speak during the ceremonies on Sunday 20th August.

The Church of Ireland Bishop of Tuam, Killala & Achonry Patrick Rooke will mark 500 years of the Reformation on Friday.

While on Saturday the Most Rev Philip Boyce, retired Bishop of Raphoe will be welcomed to Knock for ceremonies and joined by writer and theologian Fr Daniel O’Leary to facilitate workshops.

Marty Morrissey will make his first public appearance in Knock on Wednesday where Sport will be the topic up for discussion and workshops will be delivered by Fr Kevin O’Gorman, author of ‘Saving Sport: Sport, Society and Spirituality’.
