A North Leitrim councillor is to call on Leitrim County Council to contact the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government about building new houses and renovating older properties in and around Kiltyclogher.
It follows the response to a local online campaign to attract people from other areas to come to live in Kiltyclogher.
The campaign had its roots in an effort to increase the number of pupils in the local national school so as to keep its two teachers.
But Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott says it’s now about more than that; it is, he says, about revitalising the community.
And he insists housing is key to this.
