People in Ballymote protest over local banking services



People in Ballymote are expressing their concern over planned changes to banking services in the town.

The community held a protest at lunchtime.

It’s outside the Bank of Ireland branch where traditional over-the-counter services are to be replaced by an ‘advice and self-service’ system.

Ballymote once had three fully-functioning branches.

However, Allied Irish Bank closed its branch some years ago and Ulster Bank will close next month.
