Ballymote wants to keep Bank of Ireland counter services

The people of Ballymote, Co Sligo, are to launch a new effort to hold onto the banking services that’s left in their town.

With Ulster Bank in Ballymote due to close, Bank of Ireland will be the only bank left.

At present, Bank of Ireland provides counter services but only on a Monday and Friday.

But there are fears that even these could end, with worries that staff will be replaced by machines as soon as August 9th.

Now a group of local people are organising a protest outside Bank of Ireland for Friday, August 4th at 1:30pm, to highlight their concerns.

Mary Doddy is one of the organisers.
