Cycle in memory of Rescue 116 victims to include Sligo



People in the North West are urged to support a charity cycle race in September in memory of the four victims of the coastguard helicopter 116 that crashed off the coast of Mayo in March.

A group of friends and colleagues of the late Dara Fitzpatrick, Paul Ormsby, Ciarán Smith and Mark Duffy are organising the event in September.

It starts from Waterford on the 8th of September with the first leg to Dublin airport and the second leg to Sligo airport and the final leg to Shannon.

The cycle has been named ‘4 days in September’ and it also remembers Catriona Lucas another Coast Guard volunteer who lost her life in the course of duty.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Eoin Crowley, one of the team leads of the cycle, says the proceeds go to different charities and they are urging people locally to support the event:
