Donegal roads expected to be very busy today as rally comes to a close

Gardaí in Letterkenny have advised motorists to expect traffic delays in and out of the county today as the Joule Donegal Rally comes to a close.

Particularly heavy traffic is expected in Letterkenny around 5pm when the competitors head back to the rally headquarters at the Mount Errigal Hotel for the closing ceremony.

High levels of traffic are also expected on all routes in and out of the county this evening as motor enthusiasts from all over the country make their way home.

The N13 and N15 in particular are expected to be heavy.

No major incidents have been reported across the weekend with Gardaí maintaining a heavy presence on roads into the county during the rally.

However a small number of public order, drink driving and motoring offences were recorded.

Approximately 100,000 people are thought to have visited County Donegal over the past three days.
