McHugh outlines his priorities as FG chief whip in the Dail



The new Government Chief Whip Joe McHugh says progressing legislation in the Dail and addressing speaking time rights will be two key issues facing the new Cabinet.

The Donegal-based Minister was appointed to the role by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar last night and he will have the additional brief of Minister for the promotion of the Irish language and Gaeltacht affairs.

As Chief Whip, one of his main roles is to ensure that members attend and vote as the party leadership desires.

Minister McHugh says it will require building relationships within this minority government to ensure important legislation can progress.
