IFA welcomes the appointment of Brexit Minister Simon Coveney



The head of the Irish Farmers Association in Donegal has welcome the appointment of a Minister with responsibility for Brexit.

The new Taoiseach Lepo Varadkar announced his new Cabinet last night in teh Dail at about 8pm.

Minister Michael Creed will retain his brief in Agriculture but Minister Simon Coveney has moved from Housing to Foreign Affairs but with a special responsibility of Brexit.

In its 10 point submission plan to the Taoiseach the IFA outlined what it feels the new government should prioritise from a farming point of view and recognising Brexit as one of the main threats of the agriculture sector tops the list.

Chair of the IFA in Donegal Michael Chance told Agri-correspondent Claire Mulcahy that with his background in agriculture the farming community is welcoming Simon Coveney’s appointment as Brexit minister:
