Major tourism and hospitality conference at IT Sligo this week



The thirteenth annual Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference takes place in IT Sligo on both Thursday and Friday.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Entrepreneurs driving tourism and hospitality’.

The event brings together all the latest research on the tourism and hospitality sector and will offer fresh insight into how Ireland and the North West can unlock its tourism potential. It will also examine the potential effect of Brexit on the Irish tourism industry.

150 of the country’s leading tourism professionals and researchers from both Ireland and across the world will be in attendance. Keynote speakers will include Mark Henry, Central Marketing Director, Tourism Ireland. Professor Michael Hall from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and Enniscrone’s David McGowan, Entrepreneur and founder of Quirky Glamping will also address the event.

53 local tourism and hospitality businesses from Sligo and the North West will also be exhibiting their work and services along the institute’s main concourse.

Ocean FM’s Francie Boylan show will be live from IT Sligo tomorrow afternoon.
