Energy survey to take place in parts of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal

One of the groups that was to the forefront in the campaign against fracking is now turning its attention to creating an awareness of how people use energy and what it costs them.

Good Energies Alliance Ireland, with IT Sligo, is carrying out an energy survey in a number of areas in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

It’s hoped the results of the survey will lead people to think about the amount of energy they use and how they use it, as well as discovering the many ways in which they can reduce their energy costs.

The survey will start in the Drumshanbo area of County Leitrim next week and will be followed by surveys in Carrick on Shannon, Ballinamore and Carrigallen.

Surveys will also be done in Ballyshannon in County Donegal and in Grange in North Sligo.

The study has to be finished by the end of July, and surveyors will soon be visiting the various areas to talk to people.

Dr Aideen McLoughlin of Good Energies Alliance has been telling Ocean FM about what it’s hoped the survey will achieve:
