North West library users can now check out any book from libraries across the country

Library-users in the North West can now avail of books in any library in the country.

It’s as a result of the Libraries Ireland initiative officially launched this week by Minister Damien English.

It’s already been rolled out in the last few months in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim on a national phased basis.

Yesterday marked the completion of the programme nationwide aiming to make every library your local library and so people in Leitrim for example can now rent a book from a Kilkenny library.

Eileen Burgess, Donegal’s County Librarian says it’s a positive move.
