Fine Gael leadership contender, Leo Varadkar, has committed himself to upgrading the entire N4 Sligo-Dublin road if elected Taoiseach.
Minister Varadkar says there is now what he calls a gaping hole in regions around the country as regards road infrastructure.
The Minister was speaking in Sligo at the weekend, en route to the regional leadership hustings event in Ballinasloe.
He told Ocean FM he had a track record in various Ministries in developing regional infrastructure, and that the N4 from Mullingar to Sligo needed to become a high quality motorway:
