Guckian relieved as hard-working Leitrim edge past London



Leitrim are safely through to the semi-finals of the Connacht Senior Championship.

They beat London by 3-10 to 0-16 in Ruislip yesterday, helped by a debut goal for Melvin Gaels attacker Darragh Rooney.

Ronan Kennedy also came off the bench to score two goals, and Leitrim boss Brendan Guckian was pleased to get through…

Elsewhere, Tyrone will face Donegal in the Ulster Championship semi-finals, after Mickey Harte’s side beat Derry by 22 points to 11 yesterday.

In club action, Killybegs got their Donegal Senior Championship campaign underway with a 14 points apiece draw away to Burt in their rescheduled Round One tie.

In the Senior League, there were Division One wins for Kilcar against Milford and for St Michael’s against Bundoran.

And both Michael Murphy and Neil McGee both reportedly picked up knocks in Gaoth Dobhair’s defeat of Glenswilly.

In Division Two, unbeaten Aodh Ruadh kept up their impressive form with a defeat of Buncrana, while Ardara and Cloughaneely also won.

Naomh Columba were beaten by Glenfin, while, in Division Three, Naomh Brid lost to Moville.
