In junior soccer, Real Tubber claimed the Sligo-Leitrim League Division One title yesterday, after coming from behind to beat Benbulben 4-1.
Meanwhile, Aughanagh Celtic secured their survival in the Super League on Saturday after beating neighbours Boyle Celtic 3-1.
The result meant St John’s were relegated instead.
Manor Rangers booked their place in the Northwest Hospice Cup final after a 3-1 defeat of Super League champions Carbury.
They will play Ballisodare United in the decider.
In youth soccer, there was disappointment yesterday for the Sligo-Leitrim U13 league side, after they lost 2-0 to the DDSL side from Dublin in the national final.

The Cleary Landscapes & Pitch Maintenance Division One game between Benbulben and Real Tubber took centre stage on Sunday at Grange Community Park. Real Tubber one of the longest clubs in the league history were going in search of Silver. The travelling band of supporters were on high expectations for the Tubbercurry Boys to bring the Championship home. Prior to this last fixture, they were one point behind Gurteen Celtic who were League leaders on twenty-two points with all games played. Real Tubber had to win to be clear leaders a draw would goal difference decide the title and Gurteen Celtic had a three-goal advantage so no pressure on Benbulben but a heavy load on Real Tubber. Benbulben playing for pride showed great skill and enthusiasm in holding Real Tubber scoreless at half time. Benbulben then took the lead in the second half with an excellent finish from Anthony Moylette. This score finally brought the best out of Real Tubber they roared back with Patrick Killen netting the equaliser then Martin Mulvaney firing them into the lead. Captain fantastic Fabio Cretaro made three and Peter Wynne putting the cherry on the cake with the fourth goal for a jubilant Real Tubber who were presented with the Cleary Landscapes & Pitch Maintenance Division One immediately afterwards my Joe Cleary. Real Tubber will have short lived celebrations as next Kick Off 7.30pm they face MCR in the Northwest Hospice Shield Final at Mac Sharry Park some season for the Tubbercurry Boys.
The last time Boyle Celtic made the short trip to neighbours Aughanagh Celtic in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League was on Sunday the 29th January and thanks to a Luca Roddy Goal on sixty-five minutes they won the game. But Boyle had the rub of the green in that day as Aughanagh Celtic had them under massive pressure and should have scored from the penalty spot but Liam O Connell could only manage to put the ball over the bar. This time the clash of Boyle Celtic and Aughanagh Celtic was crucial to the visitors Aughanagh, as a win would give them Super League status for next season anything less and the dreaded relegation trap door was waiting. Boyle Celtic guaranteed runners up in Spot in the league were red hot favourites to take all three points but as so often this season they once again fell at the final hurdle. This despite a fine goal from Niall O Donohue but take nothing from a battling Aughanagh Celtic and the Hit Man Paul Mc Tiernan he scored once from play and once rom the penalty spot and for good measure Dermot Beggan added a third this was a sweet victory for Aughanagh Celtic who stood up and were counted when called upon.
In the North-West Hospice Shield Semi Final MCR journeyed to Cliffoney Celtic at stake a spot in the Shield final and awaiting the winners were Real Tubber. MCR after losing in the final of the Robert Cawley Cup were determined to make another Final and on the stroke of half time referee Tomas Oates pointed to the penalty spot for a penalty to MCR. Stephen Hallahan who has had a brilliant season for MCR took on the responsibility and hammered home what was to prove to be the only goal of the game. This was a great result for MCR and yet another final for them but great credit to Cliffoney Celtic who came so close on a few fronts this season and can with a small few changes be a major force again next season.
In the North-West Hospice Cup Semi Final, newly crowned Super League Champions Carbury journeyed to the Bee Park Manorhamilton to take on Leitrim kingpins Manor Rangers at stake a place in the Cup Final on Saturday the 10th June in the Showgrounds Sligo against the Boys from Ballisodare. Manor Rangers were first out of the blocks with Colm Callinan opening their account on twenty minutes. Manor increased their lead ten minutes into the second half when Niall Walsh cracked home a fine goal. Carbury continued to push forward but on seventy-five minutes a blistering free kick from Niall Walsh flew into the Carbury net assisted by a touch from Damien Shannon and the celebrations were starting. Carbury managed a late goal through Christopher Kelly but it was of little consolation. Manor Rangers travel to Ballisodare on Wednesday night next in the semi-final of the Radisson Blu W B Yeats Cup and awaiting the winners of this game in the final on Saturday the 3rd of June are the Super League Champions Carbury. But this game on Wednesday night may also hold the key as to who will be the first club to lift the North West Hospice Cup on Saturday the 10th June at the Showgrounds Sligo when Manor Rangers will again face Ballisodare United in the Final so still loads of silverware and many exciting games to come.
