Leitrim councillors meet in Dromahair

Leitrim county councillors will be heading to Dromahair this morning for their May meeting.

Normally, meetings are held at the council’s headquarters in Carrick on Shannon.

However, today’s meeting is the last in this term under Councillor Mary Bohan as cathaoirleach.

It has become a tradition for outgoing cathaoirligh to hold the last meeting they chair in their local area, hence today’s meeting in Dromahair.

It starts at 11am in the Riverside Bank Restaurant.

The last council meeting in Dromahair was when former councillor John McTiernan was cathaoirleach.

Last year, a council meeting took place in Kiltyclogher, the birthplace of 1916 signatory Sean MacDiarmada, as part of the centenary commemorations of the Rising.
