Donegal’s Brendan Boyce has been named on a strong Irish walk squad for the European Walks Cup in Podebrady in the Czech Republic at the end of next month.
The Irish group also includes world champion Rob Heffernan and Alex Wright, with all three selected for the 20K event, and Boyce and Mayo athlete Cian McMenamin also entered in the 50K race.
Boyce, who is currently training in Spain, will make a decision on which event he takes part in closer to the event.
The team is managed by Finn Valley AC’s Patsy McGonagle.
Also named this week in the Irish Ultra 24hr team for the World Championships in July is Eddie Gallen, who has also been named as captain
This will be the Finn Valley man’s 32nd Ultra event.
The event will be held in Belfast.
