Brexit: Ireland’s special circumstances recognised



The European Parliament has adopted a resolution which states that Brexit negotiations must recognise the unique and special circumstances confronting the island of Ireland.

The resolution tabled by four separate groupings, states that negotiators must ensure the continuity and stability of the Northern Ireland peace process, and avoid the reestablishment of a hard border.

In fact, the special position of Ireland was referred to several times during this morning’s European Parliament debate on Brexit.
