There are fears that there may never again be a post office in Blacklion in County Cavan.
It’s after the post office there has closed, with the nearest mail service now Royal Mail in Northern Ireland, across the bridge in Belcoo, Co Fermanagh.
In the Republic, the nearest An Post service to Blacklion is Glenfarne in County Leitrim.
An Post says the closure of Blacklion post office is temporary, although it’s not known if, or when, a contract will be given for the running of a new post office in the border town.
John Paul Feely, a Fianna Fail member of Cavan County Council, has been telling Ocean FM News why he’s not optimistic.
