NCT for tractors the latest annoyance for farmers



A Sligo Councillor says an NCT for tractors should not come into force.

The Road Safety Authority and the government are abiding by european law and it’s expected that the NCT will be in place for tractors capable of driving faster than 40km/h.

It’s due to come into force by May of 2018 and the Minister for Transport Shane Ross said recently that there would be no ‘opt-out’ for farmers on this issue.

But it’s causing outrage in the farming community.

Fianna Fail TD in the rural Ballymote area in south Sligo is to raise the issue at next week’s meeting of the county council.
