Leitrim disappointment over fate of Rural Resettlement organisation

A Leitrim councillor says he is deeply disappointed over the winding down of Rural Resettlement Ireland, the organisation that has helped more than 700 families move to new homes in the country.

Rural Resettlement Ireland started more than 21 years ago but now faces closure because of a lack of government funding.

Among the places in which it has helped people resettle is Kiltyclogher, Co Leitrim.

Local Councillor Sean McDermott says the loss of Rural Resettlement Ireland is a blow to rural areas which had been boosted by new families moving into them.
