Farmers urged to remember safety in the fine weather



The Health and Safety Authority is urging the farming community to manage their safety in this fine weather.

The HSA has launched a month-long campaign focussing on livestock safety due to the amount of calving going on this month and farmers are also spreading slurry.

There have already been four fatalities on Irish farmers so far this year with three of these this month including a man who lost his life in Arigna in county Roscommon.

Pat Griffin of the HSA says safety on farms has to become a way of life.

He’s urging farmers to limit the hours they work in the fine weather and not overdo it as this can lead to accidents:
